Frozen 2 expands the franchise’s mythology in fantastic new ways. Both films are intimate character journeys, exploring the stories of sisters Anna and Elsa, but Frozen 2 is all about how the siblings fit into the wider world. Elsa abandons her refrain of “the past is in the past” in order to learn the truth about her parents, and unlock the secrets of magic itself. In thematic terms, Frozen 2 is something of a mash-up of different legends, philosophies, and fairytales....

Game Of Thrones season 5 was shocking for a variety of reasons, including the deviations from its source novels’ storylines and of course, the inevitable, controversial brutality of certain scenes. In addition, the award winning HBO series wound up excluding certain characters altogether this year, with the promise that we will catch up with them in season 6 instead. Gene Hackman is a talent sorely missed in films today. Xbox Live was plagued with issues on Thursday and Friday, leaving many unable to play the platform’s latest console-exclusive, Gears 5, which also faced its own post-launch issues. Players subscribing to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or who purchased the Gears 5 Ultimate Edition were supposed to have access to the game four days early on top of other premium content included in the package. While they were able to access the game on September 5, many couldn’t get into multiplayer lobbies, group up with friends, or even start the campaign....

The first poster for the video game-inspired action-comedy Free Guy has been released, alongside a tongue-in-cheek video with the film’s core cast. The film was announced last year, with Ryan Reynolds signed on as the film’s lead. Earlier this year, it was confirmed that Taika Waititi had also joined the project. Written by Matt Lieberman and directed by Shawn Levy, the film will also star Jodie Comer, Joe Keery, and Channing Tatum....

The mega-hit sitcom about six friends struggling with life as twenty-somethings in New York City has gained such a following over the years that it’s easy to forget that the series is now 25 years old.
