Within the announcement, GameStop revealed the expo will be brimming with big-named developers and publishers. Included in the laundry list of attendees will be Nintendo, Microsoft, Sony Computer Entertainment, Activision Blizzard, Electronic Arts, Take-Two Interactive, and Warner Bros.
Expo registrants will be able to check out new Virtual Reality hardware and accessories before the public. Most importantly, they will get the chance for early Christmas shopping.
While developers may give sneak peaks at future works, such as Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, they’re likely to offer playable access to holiday releases like Call of Duty: Black Ops III and the new Need for Speed. With Nintendo in attendance, there may even be a glimpse of the new The Legend of Zelda or the company’s new planned hardware.
Each year, the expo sees an increased turnout. From the first event in 2012 to the California-based 2014 expo, attendance jumped from approximately 2,500 to well over 5,000. Vice president of merchandising, Bob Puzon, states the company is looking to go even bigger.
