A battle of ice and fire arrives in Westeros with a new Game of Thrones season 8 teaser trailer. HBO has turned George R. R. Martin’s book series into one of the biggest ongoing TV show. Just as with all good things though, Game of Thrones nearing the debut of the eighth and final season.

Game of Thrones routinely pulls in large amounts of viewers after building up a dedicated hardcore following through the first seven seasons. The battle for the throne is about to come to a close in a truly epic fashion next year. The shortened eighth season will consist of just six episodes, but each will still be rather long episodes on their own. HBO has been careful not to reveal too much footage from the new season just yet, but with the April debut not too far away, they must keep teasing what is to come and promoting the conclusion of the series.

HBO has now released another teaser trailer for the final season, one that appropriately is all about ice and fire. A Song of Ice and Fire is the original title of Martin’s book series for which the TV show is based on. In the teaser, the ice and fire each rush over Westeros before colliding.

Beyond the obvious connection to the title of Martin’s original novels, the teaser also hints at the final battle that will take place in season 8. The major focus of season 7 was “Winter Is Coming” and it certainly arrived by the end of the finale. The Night King and his army of White Walkers represent the ice storming over Westeros here, while the fire is undoubtedly representing the charge against them that will be led by Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) and Jon Snow (Kit Harington). And of course, both sides will have their own dragons that breathe ice and fire respectively.

This teaser is hopefully a sign that more information on Game of Thrones’ final season isn’t too far away either. While HBO previously confirmed a return in April 2019, the specific launch date has not yet been revealed. Since there are only six episodes too, the series could be over before June depending on when it launches. Fans are also eager to see more footage from the new season, so a full trailer hopefully isn’t too far away either. There’s so far only been a few teases as for what the next season could hold, and with so many so invested in what HBO and creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss brought to the screen, one star of the show expects fans to be divided. Hopefully that will not be the case, and most will find Game of Thrones’ final season comes to a natural conclusion.
