The “Kingslayer” of Kings’s Landing now has his own pair of kicks, as international shoe manufacturing company KOIO unveiled to the world their limited edition Game of Thrones Jaime Lannister sneakers.
As with any major entertainment property, there are plenty of opportunities to sell merchandise based around Game of Thrones. Being originally an adaptation of a popular book series made even more popular by the HBO series, there certainly has been no shortage of toys, collectibles, t-shirts, and other buyable pieces of merch for fans to buy to show their support of the series. Given the subject matter and mature nature of Game of Thrones, however, there are some outlets of marketing that it seems the shoe won’t be tapping into anytime soon (don’t expect to see any Game of Thrones backpacks for back to school anytime soon).
Those who were taking bets of whether or not Game of Thrones would come out with an exclusive shoe deal won big on Friday. In what may be the strangest and most unexpected product crossover for the show, Italian shoe manufacturer revealed their “Kingslayer” collaboration with the HBO show in honor of major character, the one-armed Jaime Lannister (played by Nikolaj Coster-Waldau). KOIO made the announcement on their Instagram page with a couple first-look photos, showing off the gold encrusted sneakers in all of their glory:

At first glance, the most striking look is indeed the color, which matches Jaime’s golden prosthetic hand, made for him after he lost his main fighting hand in season 3. If one looks closer, there’s even more attention to detail on that front, as KOIO has even taken the time to add a small token of their affection for Jaime by adding a little replica of his hand to the front laces.
Unfortunately for fans looking to purchase these sneakers, they aren’t going to be readily available on the open market. Instead, KOIO is using this crossover to promote their brand, holding an Instagram-based contest to give consumers a chance to win it. To win a pair, you must repost the image of the sneakers on your own page with your shoe size and #kingslayer and #myentry in the caption. Only then will you have a chance to win these exclusive shoes.
In a world where a Game of Thrones-based sneaker exists, Jaime seems like a good character to base the design around. The gold veneer is sleek and elegant, and the hand trinket on the laces is a nice touch. They may not currently be readily available, but for someone with this style and a big fan of the show, it should be worth at least a consideration.
Game of Thrones season 8 premieres in either 2018 or 2019.
