[SPOILERS for those not caught up on Game of Thrones ahead.]

-

Wrapping its sixth season earlier this year, Game of Thrones provided another 10 episodes of chaos, deceit, twists and turns that, for the first time, kept both viewers and fans of the original book series on their toes. The hugely successful HBO fantasy series has now been running for quite some time and is well-known for its roster of colorful characters; some of them hugely likeable and some of them not so much. One of those likeable characters in particular is fan-favorite Lady Olenna Tyrell, otherwise known as the Queen of Thorns.

Despite finishing months back, new material from the show’s sixth season is continuing to trickle out ahead of the season’s release on DVD and Blu-ray. In a deleted scene, Lady Olenna (played by Diana Rigg) can be seen chastising her son Mace Tyrell (Roger Ashton-Griffiths) for feeding into the larger plan that Cersei Lannister had (in her eyes) so obviously laid out. Originally filmed to appear in the second episode of season 6, the scene was cut to save on time but will be available for fans to view alongside others soon.

You can watch that deleted scene (via Entertainment Weekly), below:

Having a stern word with Mace about the workings of the Lannister family, how Cersei Lannister thinks and what the Tyrell family will have to do moving forward to get both Loras and Margaery out of their prison cells, Lady Olenna gears up for battle against the matriarch of the Lannister clan. Of course, we all know now that Margaery and Loras were out of their prison cells and ready to make their next moves to survive at the end of season 6, but a dastardly plan by Cersei saw the Sept in which they were residing blown up by Wildfire which had been stored underneath it for years.

The clip arrives with filming for the show’s seventh season. Game of Thrones will return a bit later than usual next year, due to the need for colder weather conditions now that winter has (finally) arrived on the show. What exactly this will do to viewing figures is anybody’s guess, but it seems pretty safe to say that after 60 episodes to-date, fans will be coming back in their droves to see just how the story plays out next.

Game of Thrones will return with season 7 in summer 2017.
