Kit Harington, whose star-making turn as the brooding Jon Snow on the hit HBO series Game of Thrones made him a fan favorite, is said to be an inpatient at the exclusive Privé-Swiss health facility in Connecticut. He’s reportedly being treated for stress, exhaustion and excessive alcohol use.

Game of Thrones officially wrapped up on Sunday, May 19, but a behind the scenes documentary titled “The Last Watch” aired on May 26, and showed the final table read with the cast and showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss. At the gathering, a tearful and extremely emotional Harington learned that he would deliver the fatal blow to his beloved Queen Daenerys. Harington, who wed former co-star Rose Leslie in 2018, has been a household name since he donned the Stark banner back in 2011. Over the past few weeks, nearly all Game of Thrones cast members have expressed their mixed emotions regarding the end of the show. The finale drew 19.3 million in to see the fates of everyone fans loved and loved to hate in Westeros.

According to Page Six, Harington is exhausted and stressed out due to the ending of the show, and the pressure of wondering what the future has in store for him.  Like many others who find themselves in tough situations, he reportedly self-medicated with too much alcohol, and didn’t get enough rest or personal care. He’s now said to be getting thorough professional help at the $120,000 per month facility, although when TMZ reached out to the actor’s reps, they responded with the following statement, downplaying the idea that he’s in rehab. “[Kit Harington] has decided to utilize this break in his schedule as an opportunity to spend some time at a wellness retreat to work on some personal issues.”

Harington has been forthcoming in the past about the stress of being an overnight sensation, and that he actually sought therapy over the course of the show. The concept of getting killed and being resurrected messed with his head, as did learning that it would be his character who would ultimately end Dany’s reign of terror. “He realized ‘this is it - this is the end’, it was something they had all worked so hard on for so many years. He had a moment of, what next?," according to Page Six.

Privé-Swiss is a voluntary facility where patients are allowed to leave and run errands. Harington has been seen out and about, and residents of Madison, Connecticut have reported that he looks well. Harington isn’t alone in his struggles. More than three million people suffer from stress, anxiety or substance-related issues, and many seek treatment to help themselves heal. Whether or not the actor is considered to be in rehab or not, his reps don’t dispute that he’s taking the time to work on personal issues, and he’ll hopefully come out the other side better off.
