This week’s Game Of Thrones finale will include a huge assembly of characters - and bring Sansa (Sophie Turner) and Arya’s (Maisie Williams) conflict to a head - but it’s more about dramatic moments than action, according to a new tease of what’s to come. The series’ penultimate season will conclude this Sunday, with the longest episode yet, titled ‘The Dragon And The Wolf’. The title puts the focus on Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) and Jon Snow (Kit Harington), or more likely, on their parentage.

However, there is sure to be a lot more happening during the 80 minute episode than simply more of Daenerys and Jon’s relationship. With much of this season focused on the North and the Starks, fans are waiting to see more of the throne-contenders to the South, and new images from the episode show a reunion in King’s Landing that will involve a huge number of characters together at last. Now, new hints at what to expect (for those fans who haven’t snuck a peek at the leaked spoilers) suggest that it’s not going to be an action-packed episode, but one that focuses on drama between characters.

The episode is mentioned in EW’s Spoiler Room, where several broad statements are made. It’s not clarified how this is known (no showrunner or producer is quoted).

It’s not too surprising to hear that the conflict between Sansa and Arya is going to come to a head, as this has been a major focus of the season so far. Their reunion was sweet, but has been poisoned by Littlefinger (Aidan Gillen), who planted a letter for Arya to find that incriminates Sansa, and convinced Sansa to snoop on Arya. In last week’s episode, Sansa found the ‘faces’ that Arya wears, and the two had a dramatic confrontation that is sure to be dealt with in the finale.

For starters, there’s the biggest assembly of major GoT characters since the pilot (or Joffrey’s wedding, depending on how you count major). But the finale is less about big action and more about dramatic moments. Plus: The Arya and Sansa conflict will also come to a head.

In addition, the largest assemblage of characters isn’t too much of a surprise, as so many of the major players are on their way to King’s Landing. Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) has brokered a meeting between Jon Snow and Queen Cersei (Lena Headey), and along with the captured Walker, it seems that everyone is on their way to have a talk with the current Queen of Westeros.

It’s definitely interesting to hear that the finale will not be an action-packed one, although that’s not a bad thing. Last week’s episode was very action-focused, and the season so far has had plenty of big moments for the dragons to shine in a battle scenario. It makes a lot of sense for this finale to focus more on plots than fights, and of course, everyone is still waiting for the characters to get the big R + L = J reveal - which is certainly going to be a ‘dramatic moment’ when it happens!
