If your device refuses to connect, the problem might necessarily be with your device, but your network is most likely experiencing connection issues and needs fixing.
Airplane Mode
With this setting enabled, you are probably having more problems than no Wi-Fi connection, but ensure that the Airplane mode on your device is not turned on.
Authentication Failed Error Message
Authentication issues are often (not always) a problem with the password. It tries to verify/authenticate the password that you are using to log into your network and if the password is wrong then it fails to authenticate and it will show an authentication failed message. Triple checking the password can help solve this issue. If it turns out that the issue isn’t with the password, manually switch off the Wi-Fi and mobile data on your device and turn on the airplane mode, while the airplane mode is still active turn the Wi-Fi back on and then try to connect to the network again. Once the Wi-Fi connects, turn the Airplane mode off.
Note: Don’t forget about the Airplane mode because if it’s not turned off, you won’t be able to receive calls or use your mobile data.
Soft Reset the Network
Performing a soft reset on your Wi-Fi network is the first thing that you try when troubleshooting this issue, especially if it’s a recent occurrence. A soft reset of your network is a common solution and can often help fix the internet on your device and luckily without data loss.
Simply unplug the power cable from the router/modem, wait 30 seconds to a minute and plug the power cable back then wait for a few minutes for the network to start up and then try connecting if it will be successful. If its working, that’s great news, if not, then you might consider resetting your Samsung device.
Soft Reset your Galaxy A8
If rebooting your network didn’t help, then try rebooting your A8. Simply select the restart option or choose to turn it off entirely and then boot it up normally. After it reboots, test to see if the internet has started working properly or not. If not, try performing a soft reset by removing the battery with the device powered on, wait for a minute and then reinsert the battery and power on.
