Future Man was something of a surprise for Hulu, as its puerile sense of humor is distinctly different from other original offerings from the streaming service, like, say, Castle Rock, Runaways, or The First. But the difference has helped the series stand out — well, that and its seemingly endless list of pop-culture references pointing to everything from Back to the Future to The Terminator. Add that to a very funny cast that includes Josh Hutcherson as Josh Futterman, Eliza Coupe as Tiger, and season 1 MVP Derek Wilson as Wolf, and you have the makings of a very fun and enjoyably immature season of television.

With Josh, Tiger, and Wolf having been charged with saving the world from a STI cure gone horribly wrong in season 1, the second season brings the characters into the future to learn a hard truth: their mission is far from over. Check out the trailer for the new season and read a full synopsis below:

There’s certainly a lot going on and a lot to digest (if you can stomach it), but mostly it’s impressive how much season 2 seems to be different from the season 1, while still following through on the basic premise of the series. The trailer makes it clear that things will continue to be over the top, and the Haley Joel Osment’s Dr. Stu Camillo is still a variable Josh and the others have to contend with.  All in all, it looks like another fun season ahead for Hulu’s sci-fi comedy.

“Season two picks up in 2162, and Josh, Wolf, and Tiger learn that their season one mission to stop the cure from getting out didn’t work. In this timeline, Stu Camillo is now in power, having created the cure, and launched a plan to relocate humanity to Mars. A shadowy organization called the Pointed Circle seeks to recruit Josh to take Stu down – but are they the good guys, or is Stu? As Wolf quickly acclimates to the strange customs of this time, Tiger struggles with her Biotic identity and searches for an escape. Josh unites the team in an epic plan to save the world, but their time-traveling catches up to them, and they must reckon with their choices and  what to do next.”
