Funko has unveiled their first wave of Star Wars Pop! figures that will be exclusives at San Diego Comic-Con 2017. The galaxy far, far away is no stranger to merchandising, and there are several tie-in products available. With Lucasfilm releasing new films on an annual basis for the foreseeable future, the studio’s licensing partners have a plethora of opportunities to come out with new items based on the sequel trilogy and anthology stories. Funko is a company that has attracted much attention over the past handful of years, famous for their cute collectible figures based on some of the most popular franchises in the zeitgeist. Star Wars, of course, one of Funko’s most lucrative lines - especially thanks to the premieres of The Force Awakens and Rogue One.

When a high-profile convention like San Diego Comic-Con is right around the corner, companies frequently plan on bringing exclusive pieces of merchandise for attendees to purchase. Funko is no stranger to this, as evidenced by the Indiana Jones and BB-8 thumbs up figures they brought to Comic-Con last year. Now, they’re making preparations for 2017, which include the first official toy for Supreme Leader Snoke that’s been released.

Funko made the announcement on their website, highlighting four new figures that will be at the event next month. In addition to Snoke (which is a 6-inch super sized Pop to replicate his holographic projection in Episode VII), fans can also get their hands on defecting Imperial cargo pilot Bodhi Rook, a combat assault tank trooper from Rogue One, and a two-pack featuring R2-D2 and the hologram of Princess Leia that kickstarted the adventure in A New Hope. You can see them all in the gallery below:

Out of all these, the Leia/R2-D2 combo set is sure to be the one that’s in highest demand. The Princess’ message is one of the most iconic moments of Episode IV, making it the ideal way for Funko to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Star Wars. There could also be some interest in acquiring Snoke for one’s collection, given the villain was not part of the waves of merchandise that came out when Force Awakens first opened. The glow-in-the-dark aspect makes the figure unique, and it would look interesting on a shelf. Completists may look to snag either the Imperial trooper or Bodhi - especially since the two were not part of the original Rogue One product line. Bodhi may not have had the most to do in the film, but he was still an integral part of that story and earned many fans.

This seems to be only the beginning of Funko’s exclusive reveals for Comic-Con. The Star Wars figures are identified as “Wave 1,” meaning there could be more that will be shared at a later date. Whether they’re from Marvel, DC, or another big brand remains to be seen, but there should be long lines at the Funko booth in the San Diego Convention Center this year. For those who can’t make it to the convention this year, Funko notes most of their SDCC 2017 exclusives will be shared with retailers, so there’s always hope.
